Final Blog
First i would like to say that i think this course should be mandatory. I am so glad that i chose to take this course because personally i knew nothing about designing a website or blogging prior to this class. I am graduating next weekend and i feel confident knowing how to use these types of programs etc. I also suprisingly am keeping our book because i enjoyed reading it(easy read) and learned alot more in this course that will be useful as a comm alumni. I really cant say anything negitive about this class. I think the blog assignments are a grwat way to keep everyone up to date on the material and the projects assigned were great because it taught all of us at least one thing new about the different programs Thanks for a great class Mr. King!

Chaper 9 & 10
1.) Some methods to maintain your computer include: Downloading Disk Medic, WinPatrol, Ccleaner, Disk Cleanup(c).
2.) I actually bought the Disk medic to maintain my computer, I also clean the c drive and cookies. t
2.) I actually bought the Disk medic to maintain my computer, I also clean the c drive and cookies. t
3.) Data scrubbing involves not only earsing the files but writing over them with ones and zeros so the magnetic particles that stores the information lose all records of what they held. It is important so that if the computer is sold or anyone gets into it they can blakc mail or even do worse..you never know
4.)COokies are files the when you go on commerical web sites they embed a little text file. Some web sites use this to know your name and show your information which is responsable, but some web sites save your information saving it so it will show what sites youve visted in the history. Now we have big web sites with great cookie mangment like Internet Expolor, Firfox, and opera.
5.) Key Loggers are program that record every key stroke you make and email the file to the hacker who will sift throught the logfiles and passwords, banking information, ceridt card numbers. One recommended prgram is LAva soft Ad Aware Personal, Windows Defender. And make sure you check the product at symantec.com which is a company that monitors malware threats.
6.) Phishing is a scam letter people send out in order to steal your money. The preditor send out hundreds of the same email hoping to catch a fish. Pharming is a type of identiy theft that is committed when you land on a phoney web site. Alot have gotten great and made spoof paypal web site so you enter your information and have no idea fraud is happening. Both of these types of theft are my worst fear about using the internet, becasue its so easy to be taken advantage of. People who arnt educated have this occur to them everyday, thankfully this has not occured to me yet.

Chapter 6 & 7
1. ) Yes, i have only used google earth to check up on my own home, but i havent used it for finding friends or restraunts yet. I have a feeling this will come into effect more often when i graduate in may.
2.) Seatguru was interesting. According to them row 26 and a,b,c,d,e,f were all poor seating and have limited reclining and have tight space due to the curve in the plane. Also with the bathrooms behind then it is really rausting and stinky to sit by.
3.) TExtPayMe is not a service i would personally use. I think it is a little to far of path for me to use.
4.) DICO score is the score in which lenders use to detrimine wheather or not you will be accecpted for a loan. This is very important because this will effect you throughout life. I actually did check my credit report. This book has taught me alot i need to know in life.
5.) YES! I think this is a great way for people to get involved and utilize the technogoly we now have today. Rosa is the first entrpreneur that ive found and she needs a 25 dollar loan to buy supplies to make pumpkin fritters for FINCA. The other person i looked up was Mark from chicago, who wants to loan to women in small communities which will hopefully affect some sort of change for gender equality as a result of their economic prosperity as successful business women.

Third Reading Response
1.) Proxy bidding is when a website like ebay automatically bid for you each time your outbid. Like ebay if someone outbids you then it will automatically bid a dollar more then the person before you did. But if the person like you entered a higher maximum on the proxy bidding then you may end you paying more then you wanted. But you will never pay more then you max. The purpose is really for people who cant or don't want to keep checking on the bid war and it makes it a lot easier for everyone.
2.) One of the best ways is to look for bargains is to go onto sites like shoppzilla and dealnews, and look for Smart Choice and words like that that searches for the best prices for the specific item you desire. Look for coupons on the sites and items as well.
3.)Triangulation in auctioning is when you buy stolen property from a site. when this happens you need to contact the site immediately explaining the situation. If you don't the consequences could be very bad. People steal credit card numbers to buy stolen property then sell it to you ..meaning you will be charged with receiving stolen property in the end.
4.) Virtual credit Cards are cards with a max amount of money or one rime use card numbers that will save you from idenitiy theft and clearing out your account. These numbers come from banks like bank America and discover and shop safe! I was never aware of this possibility but now that I'm educated i will definitely use this in the future. More people should know about these safe ways of shopping on the web.

Second Response Blog
1.)As soon as I went to Wikipedia I immediately knew what to search about. Unfortunately I haven't done a lot of research on our current president Barack Obama. Therefore i took this time to read about his life. This is extremely embarrassing to admit, but i actually learned a lot about him through Wikipedia. I was not aware that he graduated from Columbia University, then when on to Harvard Law School. This information was not that surprising considering he was now our current president. I was not familiar with his childhood either. I had no idea the struggles he had gone through to get where he is today. It is truly amazing what he has accomplished for being so young and powerful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama
2.) http://wikidumper.blogspot.com/search?q=barack+obama
Obama Girl refers to a character, played by Amber Lee Ettinger, depicted in the Internet viral video, "I've Got A Crush On Obama". The video features an attractive young woman seductively singing of her love for Junior Senator Barack Obama of Illinois. Obama is a candidate in the 2008 U.S. Presidential election. Ettinger lip-synched the song for the video, and Leah Kaufmann (of "My Box in a Box" fame) provided the vocals. The original video. This article is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. It uses material from the Wikipedia article "Obama Girl". This entry is a fragment of a larger work. Link may die if entry is finally removed or merged.
I think that this choice will or maybe removed due to the content being irrelevant. This should not be related to our current president because its childish, and is inappropriate to link the two. I feel that this submission will be removed very soon.
3.) Web 2.0 is a perceived second generation of web development and design, that aim to facilitate communication, secure information sharing, interoperability, and collaboration the World Wide Web. Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services, and applications; such as social-networking sites, video-sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and folkonomies.
4.) I looked up IUP as well from 1997, since that was the first year we had a website. This site is extremely simple and boring. We have differently come along way since than, but i feel IUP still has a lot of work to do to catch up with technology today.
The second one that i had to look up was of course Facebook. The first website that was designed in 1998. This site is very unorganized and basically not done. The following year Facebook came up with a slogan that i said "making sure you Never Misplace a Face." This was the beginning of the evolution of Facebook. it was basically a electronic directory for people to pay to use!

About Me
*About Stephanie Falcone*
My name is Stephanie Falcone. I am a Senior at IUP, with a major in Communications, and a minor in Journalism. I live in Indiana, off-campus on Philadelphia street which definitely has its perks ! I enjoy working hard and playing hard. I work at Benjamin's Restaurant as a waitress, and work for the promotions team at the one and only 90.1FM! Other then that my free time is usually spent with my roommates and friends probably trying to do something new and ridiculous to keep our selves occupied.
